Make the 2.5 hour ferry journey to the Tiwi Islands, 80kms north of Darwin and step off to explore the local indigenous community of Wurrumiyanga. Grab a walking map and buy a museum ticket on the ferry and discover the Tiwi Islands largest community at your own pace. Visit the museum and learn about traditional Tiwi culture and history, the Catholic mission of the 20th century with extensive photograph collection, Tiwi involvement in WWII as well as Tiwi sport and their many successful athletes. Visit the Catholic mission precinct with historic old church, see the artists working and purchase Tiwi arts, carvings and fabrics at island prices at Tiwi Design and Bima Wear art centres before cruising back to Darwin.
Museum tickets available on board the ferry for $5. Lunch can be purchased from the takeaway shop in Wurrumiyanga or grab a sandwich off the ferry

Please check in at Cullen Bay Ferry Terminal at 7:30am for an 8:00am departure. Cullen Bay is a 5 minute drive from Darwin CBD. There is free all day parking, catch the number 14 bus or a taxi will cost approximately $10.
