This day tour really shows you all the best that the Margaret River region has to offer. You will see the towns of Busselton & Margaret River, visit a world-class winery, take a limestone cave tour & visit Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse. All day you will be travelling through beautiful scenery and stopping at places that will give you a full taste of the region.
This tour is a jam-packed day where you will see some famous coastline, a beautiful wine region, an iconic jetty and lighthouse, and natural attractions including a limestone cave and massive forest trees. Stand at the most south-westerly point of the Australian Continent where the waters of the Southern and Indian Oceans meet, and sample the great food and wine of the Margaret River area.
You start this fantastic tour at around 8 am from the Crown Perth Complex or from selected CBD Hotels, travelling in a comfortable modern coach with your friendly, informative driver-guide and fellow holidaymakers. Heading south, we journey to our first stop at the famous 1.8-kilometre-long, heritage listed Busselton Jetty. This fully restored and very impressive piece of infrastructure is the longest timber-piled jetty in the southern hemisphere and extends over the protected waters of the scenic Geographe Bay. Whilst here, you will enjoy a delicious and relaxing morning tea (own expense) while soaking up the spectacularly stunning scenery. You’ll then leave the seaside resort town of Busselton and head to the magnificent Margaret River Wine Region.
The Margaret River region is highly regarded as one of Australia’s finest wine regions and its stunning scenic landscapes and perfect weather only add to its attractiveness. With so much to see and do, you will soon fall in love with this sensational area of Western Australia. Visiting one of Margaret River's oldest breweries, you'll enjoy a beer and cider tasting along with your lunch of a gourmet platter of local produce.
Following lunch, we continue south through the forest to one of the local Margaret River wineries to taste some of the best wines of the region and gain some insight into the wine production industry. You'll have the opportunity to purchase a bottle of your favourite tipple if you wish.
Next, it’s off to view the gothic-like chambers of the vast Mammoth Cave. Join a guided tour of the cave and its amazing formations, leisurely walking on platforms and boardwalks through the natural beauty of this impressive ancient cavern. The cave will reveal a fascinating range of information about the flora and fauna of this region.
Enjoy a lovely drive through the 60-metre-high towering Karri Trees of Boranup Forest. The Karri Tree is one of the tallest trees species in the world and their massive pale-coloured trunks are magnificent in the dappled sunlight the streams through to the forest floor. This forest is a re-growth forest which is over 100 years old and stretches for several kilometres.
Continue on to the stately working Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse which marks the meeting place of the beautiful, but often treacherous, waters of the Southern and Indian Oceans. Situated on the most south-westerly point of the Australian mainland, this is the tallest mainland lighthouse and is open to the public for a truly spectacular panoramic view and picturesque photo opportunity.
Next, head back to Margaret River for a brief stop to explore the Main Street. Explore the quaint shops and chic cafes of the area, before rejoining your coach and heading back towards Perth. We make one more stop en route for a light dinner (own expense) before arriving back in the city at approximately 9.30 pm.
